ATTACHMENT THEORY

2013 - Present

In my "Attachment Theory" series, I explore the complex relationships between human connection, memory, and place through a combination of traditional painting and digital video. Each piece layers painted elements on transparent acrylic panels that interact with video projections, creating a dialogue between stillness and motion, past and present.

The works examine various forms of attachment - to places, to moments in time, to each other. Solitary figures in boats drift through liminal spaces, while urban scenes flicker between solid architecture and dissolving light. Birds move through painted skies, suggesting both freedom and the invisible bonds that guide their migration patterns.

This series represents an evolution in my practice, where traditional painting techniques merge with digital media to capture the ephemeral nature of human experience. The transparent panels serve as both windows and mirrors, reflecting our desire to hold onto moments while acknowledging their inherent impermanence.

Each piece invites viewers to contemplate their own attachments - to memory, to landscape, to the fleeting connections that shape our understanding of home. Through the interplay of painted surface and moving image, these works explore how we anchor ourselves in an increasingly fluid world.

The series spans from 2016 to present, documenting a continuous investigation into how we form, maintain, and sometimes let go of our deepest attachments.
