LIMINAL DREAMS

2013 - Present

In "Liminal Dreams", I explore the threshold between consciousness and dreaming, where reality dissolves into something more fluid and uncertain. Through a combination of traditional painting and video projection, these works capture moments of transition - figures suspended in water, birds in mid-flight, solitary observers at the edge of vast spaces.

Each piece begins as a painting on acrylic panel, where translucent layers create depth and atmosphere. Video elements are then carefully integrated, bringing motion to specific areas while leaving others in contemplative stillness. This interplay between static and dynamic elements mirrors the way memory and dream interweave in our minds, creating something that exists between documentary and imagination.

The series features recurring motifs: lone figures gazing outward, birds in migration, bodies of water, and architectural elements that frame natural phenomena. These elements serve as anchors in compositions that blur the line between physical and psychological landscapes. Sandhill cranes dance against a sunset, a swimmer hovers in an endless blue, a volcanic eruption disrupts a pastoral scene - each image captures a moment of transformation or revelation.

Through these works, I investigate how our inner monologues and dreams reconstruct and deconstruct our experience of reality. The liminal space - this in-between state - becomes a metaphor for our constant navigation between what is solid and what is fluid in our understanding of ourselves and our surroundings.

The series continues to evolve, each new piece exploring different aspects of this threshold state where perception, memory, and imagination converge.
